One of the most important natural resources in the United States and all over the world is the oil. We use the oil for gasoline in our cars, boats, machinery etc.

The measurement of oil is a barrel. One barrel, whether it’s oil or not, equals 42 gallons. This is approximately 160 liters (1 U.S. gallon = 3.78541178 liters).

But not everything from barrel of crude oil becomes gasoline. From 42-gallon barrel only approximately 19.4 gallons is gasoline. The rest (over half) is used to make many things that we use EVERY DAY. From shoes and drugs to boats. That is thousands of different items that we can not imagine our lives without.

The numbers on how much oil has been flowing out of the Deepwater Horizon varied wildly since it sank on April 22, 2010. At the low end, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) estimated 210,000 gallons (5,000 barrels) were flowing into the Gulf per day, which was the initial, official estimate.
But at a high end experts have estimated that the rate could reach as high as 4.2 million gallons (100,000 barrels) a day.
On August 5, 2010, after 106 days passed, the leak appeals to be sealed.
