When social network web-site RockYou.com was hacked, 32 million passwords were exposed to anybody. Such a large data set was analyzed by security firm Imperva Application Defense Center (ADC). They found that most users chose a very simple password.
Imperva found that nearly a third of users chose passwords with length is equal or less then six characters and almost 60 percent of users chose their passwords from a set of ten of alpha-numeric characters. Half of users used first names, slang words, dictionary words or trivial passwords (consecutive digits, adjacent keyboard keys) with the most common password being “123456″.
