HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that weakens the immune system, making it harder to fight off infections.

AIDS (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome) refers to the most advanced stages of H I V infection.

1 in 5 people living with H I V don’t know that they have it.

HIV/AIDS weakens a person’s ability to fight infections and cancer. HIV transmission can occur with unprotected sex or with needle sharing.

It is also called a retrovirus.

There is no cure for A I D S.

It is especially lethal because it attacks the very immune system cells that would fight off such a viral infection in healthy body. Receptors on these cells appear to enable the viral RNA to enter the cell.

Latex condoms for men and female condoms can reduce but not eliminate the risk of contracting the disease during sex.

It most often spreads through unprotected sex with an infected person. It may also spread by sharing drug needles or through contact with the blood of an infected person.

The virus infects the cells that responsible for the immune system causing AIDS sometimes after a long incubation period that extends to almost ten years.

AIDS itself has no determined clinical signs because the infection destroys the defense system in the body which exposes it to infection with other diseases causative agents.

It’s possible to have it for years and not develop or show any signs of the disease.

HIV can become resistant to each class of drugs, so a combination treatment using both is necessary to effectively lower the amount of virus in the blood.

HIV tests are a normal part of health care. If you think you may have been exposed to HIV, talk with a health care provider about testing.

Symptomatic patients may experience symptoms similar to the flu or vague general symptoms that are similar to other diseases including diarrhea, fatigue, frequent yeast infections in women, headaches, mouth sores, muscle stiffness, rashes, dermatitis, sore throat, and enlarged lymph nodes.

Infected mothers can pass H I V to their babies during pregnancy or delivery.

Approximately one-quarter to one-third of all untreated pregnant women infected with HIV will pass the infection to their babies.

Any kind of sexual contact between an H I V-positive partner would bring about infection regardless of gender.

You can’t catch or spread H I V from hugging someone.

Touching, hugging, using the same toilet seat, drinking from the same glass is Ok and don’t lead to infection unless there is a blood and an open wound on your body.

It can be transferred through needles. Including tattoo needles. Although there have been no reported cases of someone becoming positive from tattooing or body piercing.

There is no evidence of H I V transmission through insect bites, even in areas where there are many cases of HIV and AIDS and large populations of insects such as mosquitoes.

There are signifcantly higher rates of HIV among prisoners than among the general population.

There are over 900 children under the age of 15 living with HIV in the United Kingdom.

You can get an H I V test with an accurate result from four weeks after potential infection.

5 body fluids that carry the virus: Blood, Semen, Vaginal secretions, Breast milk.

Studies prove that one in 16 black gay men will become infected with HIV in their lifetime.

Nikki Perez, 21 was waiting for her light at the Amarillo Airport in Texas when Brown Reclusive spider bit her to the back of her neck. Over the next few days her face swelled up to nearly twice its size, shutting one of her eyes, and her right ear began to rot off.

Nikki says: “It was spreading all over my head, which actually felt like a bit of a relief as the pain was so concentrated behind my ear.”

She was travelling with her boyfriend and his mother last September when she was bitten.

Perez spent 4 days in the hospital receiving steroids through an IV to bring down the swelling. Doctors said that some of the skin tissue on her face might become necrotic. After she was released, part of her right ear began to rot. Perez had an operation to remove the dead tissue and received a skin graft to repair her ear. She was considered lucky as the necrosis was limited to just a part of her ear.

Mental health charity Mind help an online poll where more than hundred people shared their thoughts on Christmas depression, stress and anxiety about repaying their holiday spending.
Here is a Christmas depression statistics:
- 19 % of people felt less able to manage their mental health because of worries about paying off the cost of Christmas – 25 % were feeling depressed
- Over 50 % admitted they had spent more than they could afford on Christmas.
- 20 % will have problems meeting their rent or mortgage payments this month.
- 33 % estimated that it would take them more than six months to pay off their Christmas spending debt
- 39 % used credit cards to cover the cost of Christmas.

Mind’s Chief Executive Paul Farmer said: “Christmas is a costly time of year but it’s not just your wallet that could be hurt by excessive spending. Financial worries can have a devastating impact on mental health and can lead to serious problems such as depression and stress. People who have mental health problems are already more likely to be living in poverty, with many dependent on benefits because they are too ill to work. Worries about finances and the prospect of not being able to afford the essentials like food, heating and electricity will only add to their distress… We are concerned that the predicted credit crunch in 2008 will result in more people experiencing money worries which could have a detrimental impact on their mental health. That’s why this year Mind is launching a major new study investigating the real toll that poverty and debt has on mental health.”

However according to Mayo institute research there was not any clear correlation between depression and winter holidays found.

What is a digestive system?

Digestive system is a series of connected organs with purpose to digest the food we eat.

Organs that make up the digestive tract are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, the colon – rectum, and anus. Body organs such as liver, gallbladder, and pancreas are also part of this important system.

Food is a bunch of large molecules, which the digestive system breaks down into smaller molecules that can be absorbed into the blood.

Why my stomach is growling? It happens when the stomach receives signals from your brain to begin digestion but the there is nothing to digest. Once your brain has realized that you are low on energy (blood sugar) – it let’s your body know. Glowling almost for sure will occur when your nose smells something tasty and you are hungry. In that case your nose tells on you to the brain and brain will pass it on to digestive system.

After dinner is swalled it goes to stomach, that is a temporary storage and food processor. Stomach’s muscles are turning food into liquefied mixture, though some are turned into solid substance released in the small intestine in less than an hour.

Why stomach burn occurs? Stomach acids that rise up to the esophagus can cause it to become inflamed. In addition, it can damage the inner lining of the esophagus.

Enzymes are breaking down food into its individual components: protein, fat, carbohydrates, water, vitamins and minerals. Human body is absorbing them to use for energy or renew cells.

Protein helps to digest some foods.

Natural food sources such as fruits, grains, legumes, and some vegetables are called “Slow Digesting Carbohydrates”. They to keep the blood glucose levels steady and help to regulate body fat.

A stomach needs to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks otherwise it will digest itself.

Why am I burping? If person rushes a meas and drink too fast then he or she is taking in lots of air that can make him burp. If he’s burping without having anything it could be a sign of decease.
